About Jenny Long and DotalongAK
Everything changed in 2020. She contracted Covid which rolled into Long Covid, which robbed her of her energy, strength, and her short-term memory. She was left feeling disconnected from her favorite places and experiences in Alaska. Medically retired from her 28-year teaching career, Jenny struggled to find adventures she could navigate. That is where mandala dot art came into her life. Nurturing her creativity and artistic skill, she found a pathway to literally connect the dots of the stunning Alaskan landscapes and wildlife she had spent two decades thriving in to the quieter life she inhabits now. Her artwork, like all gifts given, has blessed her as much as it has the supporters of her work.
With an incredibly supportive husband by her side, Jenny has found a way to connect. The trails she hiked, waters she fished, and Alaskan wilderness she fell in love with are represented in the pieces she creates. When you purchase an ornament, you will find it strung with a piece of repurposed fishing line that her family has used in Alaskan waters, tying the new owner directly to her family and Alaska. DotalongAK was born from this new adventure. Jenny’s hope is that her art allows you to come along and be part of her Alaskan life through her dot painting journey.
